What better way to inaugurate this site then with a shirt featuring Christopher Columbus?  Here, the explorer who brought Europe’s attention to the American continents contemplatively begins his trip back to Europe.
Before coming to America, Columbus hypothesized that he could discover a shorter shipping route from Europe to the Indies by sailing west.  In1492, Spain sponsored his first experimental voyage and Columbus landed in the Bahamas.

He made four voyages to the Americas but never touched ground on what is now considered the United States of America.  During his second voyage, he and his men did some bad stuff to the people they met.

On the shirt, “Ci dispiace” (we’re sorry in Italian, Columbus’s first language) flies atop the center mast.  The idea to emblazon regret comes from Midnight Oil’s performance of their song “Beds are Burning” during the closing ceremonies of the 2000 Olympics in Australia.  (See video below.)
